UP IN THE AIR WITH WEST JET

My return home this Canada Day long weekend is literally up in the air,as the West Jet's Union of Mechanical Engineers are in position to go on strike as of tomorrow morning. West Jet has cancelled both today's and tomorrow's flights but not weekend flights as of yet.My fingers 🤞 are crossed that West Jet and the Union can make even a tentative deal between the next 24 hours so I can be up in the air on a West Jet plane instead of being up in the air waiting for news here on the ground..Have any of you been stranded while on vacation due to either a flight cancellation or strike?

MY TWO SIDEKICKS ON THE VEDDER TRAIL

My 2 sidekicks, aka, my sons and I went hiking on the Vedder River Trail on Saturday. The trail itself is nice and flat and the scenery is spectacular. We hiked about 5 kilometers of it, with Mom stopping for photo ops. along the way. Half way through the entire trail, just past the Vedder Bridge is pit stop,so we stopped..lol The stop consisted of a Craft Brewery named Sidekicks, along with an ice cream shop called Banter. Both Mom and her two sidekicks were both thirsty and hungry so took full advantage of both the spectacular scenery and all it offered in the way of refreshments. It was an epic day with my sons and now looking forward to this weekend and going to Chilliwacks Classic Car Show with them . Here are a few photos from the Vedder..
I have a lot more but it is taking too long to add any at the moment.Happy trails to you, until we meet again..lol

No Relaxation On Vacation

One would think vacations should be for relaxation but that has not been the case so far . A few years ago the Management Company of my sister's and two other apartment complexes, sold the land to Developers,in order to tear them down and build Condos. Due to delays in building permits along with acquiring capital, the work was put on hold... Until two days ago and they started digging for the first time.. My sister lives on the ground floor and the digging commenced right outside her patio. It has been non stop since and far from relaxing.. The Management Company has not sent out notices nor given the Tenants any type of timeline for moving out at all... Along with all the noise now comes the worry my sister is going through on having to eventually find a new and affordable place to live..She and most tenants here are on fixed incomes or Disability pensions.. I will keep you updated here when my sister and I get more details. Sometimes there is just no relaxation when on vacation.

FLYIN' IS ON HER TO DO LIST

(Poor quality video due to age, but was lucky to see Prism last year along with Saga and Trooper in concert.) I am a list maker from way back and get satisfaction from scratching things off my To Do Lists. Without writing lists on paper and checking them twice, whether it is grocery shopping or going on "Vacation"/ Holiday" I would forget something important. Lists keep me organized, keeps my mind focused, and when reading it, will trigger adding items I would have forgotten about..Being old school I prefer my To Do lists on paper, as we all know technology can go down quicker than a hooker does on a paying customer..lol.
I wrote my list out yesterday for my "Flight"tomorrow and have everything scratched off except my Pj's, robe, slippers, and my Lovers Kiss Goodbye. His "Kiss Is On My List" and the last on my To Do list when he drops me off at Toronto Pearson tomorrow morning.. He is also the first thing on my To Do List when I return home on Canada Day..
I will not be on Blogger, nor posting here while I am "Gone" so please stay safe, happy and healthy everyone..
( I could not resist adding both versions with Bryan Adams and Mel C. 22 years after they sang the original.)
So my friends, are you List Makers? Do you write them down on paper and get the satisfaction of crossing them off, or do you use your phone and technology for your own To Do Lists?

MAY YOU NEVER HAVE A JELLYFISH BAD DAY ON THE JOB - JN! THIS ONE IS FOR YOU

Knowing JN's love of Deep Sea diving, snorkelling, and showing us her incredible photos and videos of sea creatures, I immediately thought of her.. I sincerely hope she never has a jellyfish bad day like this Deep Sea diver did. I laughed out loud when I read it and hope it tickles everyone else's funny bones. Here is his story.. Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job. As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the office. It's a wet suit. This time of year the water is quite cool. So what we do to keep warm is this: We have a diesel powered industrial water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which is taped to the air hose Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several times with no complaints. What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi. Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to itch. So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse. Within a few seconds my ass started to burn. I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony I realized what had happened. The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit. Now, since I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick to it, however, the crack of my ass was not as fortunate. When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the crack of my ass. I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other divers, were all laughing hysterically. Needless to say, I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression. When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet. As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber. The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't shit for two days because my ass was swollen shut. So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your ass. Now repeat to yourself, 'I love my job, I love my job, I love my job.' Whenever you have a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day? May you NEVER have a jellyfish bad day! May none of us have a Jellyfish "Bad Day." God I so Love My Job...lol. How about you?
Daniel Powter who wrote and sang Bad Day, came on Canada's Got Talent to audition this year. Here is that video..
I can only watch Canada's Got Talent in the summer when off work. How about you? Do you watch AGT, Britain's Got Talent or Japan's Got Talent? Some of the acts on the shows are absolutely amazing, and others not so much...lol.

GUESS WHO'S BACK ON AFF ?

A few days after asking my fellow 3 former exiles on AFF to get my "Message From Joy" out and try to help reach as many readers and followers of my own if possible, all three graciously posted it on their blogs. Knowing our resident spunky/Robin Hood would be the last one on Sunday to do so. I asked him to post my Signature Song along with a photo I had sent offline as well..
A Message From Joy This is a repost in an attempt to reach as many of Joy's followers as possible. We are aware not all of her followers follow us, but it's worth a shot. Without further ado, here's her message: An update from Joy ( formerly known as author51) For those who knew me for almost 9 years in Blog Land, I wanted to say Hi and also that I miss you all. Some enquiring minds want to know how I have been since my exile and if I will ever return. Even though I have missed you and the wonderful connections I made, especially when blogging, I will not be back. Since my exile in March, life has been good. I blog on a different forum and have remained in contact with a few of you and for that I am grateful. For those who used to read me daily but lost contact with when banned, I regret that and think about you often. I am healthy, happy and still having fun with life and my Significant Other. Just know that all is well with me as I sincerely hope it is for you too. I just wanted to give those who have been enquiring about me, a quick Hi and final Goodbye update. Even though we may never see or speak to one another again, I think of you all with gratitude and love for the Joy, you brought this Joy over the years. Stay safe, happy and healthy please.. Love Always Joy (author51) Having all three of them starting with JN first,Enigma next, and last but not least (spunky)Bow And Arrow Man, honour my request, I was so very humbled and grateful for their friendship and support. They have my total respect and heart always.. It was not until early this morning, I found out through my "Twin Pepperpot" (Ana) and her Notifications on AFF along with Enigma and her followers list on Community Blogs that Joy (author51) on AFF, had been reinstated and resurrected at all.. The floodgates opened up from other bloggers later who I had kept in contact with offline during my exile. Those who read JN's, Enigmas and spunky's 2-3 days ago, that got notifications themselves this morning that " author51" was back.. Only time will tell actually as even though " author51" and my profile may show back up now for most of you on AFF, "Joy" may not.. Those of you working behind the scenes I know and LOVE wanting "author51" along with her own full profile reinstated, no matter what transpires and has.. I truly Thank you all. Just do not try to find me as I am not " Not There" yet..

TAKE A HIKE MOM IN CHILLIWACK, BRITISH COLUMBIA

I got a phone call from my two sons who live in Chilliwack B.C., asking whether I wanted to take a hike with them again when I am there, like we did in 2022 on the Lindeman Lake Trail.
It was a resounding "Yes" as both boys are avid hikers and sports nuts. Spending time with them in any capacity at all while only seeing them once a year, is what I live for.. Having said that, with my sons being 30 and 28 respectively now, when I took that hike with them at 59 ( now 61) and they were both also two years younger, I felt old. Both boys can and still hike it to view Lindeman Lake in record time. When Mom tagged along, even with our backpacks full of water bottles, Trail Mix and Granola Bars, due to the rocky terrain and the elevation, what takes them 10 minutes maybe, took us almost 45 when I hiked it with them.. Even though I wore a tee shirt that day with my boys that said " In it to Win it", I knew this year and not being 59 anymore, when my sons asked me to take another hike with them this trip, I flat out told them I could not do the Lindeman Trail again this year.. It was then I suggested a much flatter trail just outside of Chilliwack on the Vedder River. One that their Dad and I used to go and camp quite often before they were born. We would also take both of them, along with their older sister to the Vedder for picnics and walk the trail when they were really young.
They loved the idea as did I. With being a "Tom Boy" and a Senior Mom of three Adult children, admitting our bodies Biological ages can not do what it might have been able to even two years prior when either taking a hike with them or not, was a humbling experience. I felt both Old and embarrassed, telling them I just could not hike on the steep terrain with them this visit in Chilliwack. What about the scant few here, reading this? Getting Old sucks the odd time. Having to tell your kids, you are "Young at heart, but slightly older in other places" and admitting to it can be difficult. Especially when it comes to doing activities with your kids, that you can not do as easily anymore.
